GateFilter Plug-in
GateFilter Plug-in is a software Internet filter providing intelligent content filtering for WinGate. This effective content filtering plug-in utilizes a primary Internet filter technology based on Artificial Content Recognition (ACR), which analyzes the content of a website, determines if it is inappropriate, and blocks the site if necessary. 1
Effective content filtering is increasingly important given the wide-scale deployment of the Internet in today’s organizations. Businesses providing Internet connectivity in their workplace need the ability to enforce their company policies with regard to appropriate use of company resources.
Unrestricted Internet use can expose companies to potential legal liabilities, let alone the costs associated with lost productivity and misappropriated bandwidth. GateFilter provides companies with a tool that can assist them to ensure that appropriate content remains accessible while inappropriate content is blocked.
System Requirements
These are the minimum recommended system requirements for WinGate to run. This does not take into account running multiple programs simultaneously. To run several programs on the computer at the same time, that computer should exceed these recommendations.
Hardware Requirements: 486 processor or higher (Pentium is recommended)
24MB RAM minimum
Operating Systems:
Windows 95 (with Winsock 2) Windows 98/ME Windows NT (Service Pack 4 or higher) Windows 2000 Pro/Server/Advanced Server Windows XP Home/Professional
If you are utilizing an Ethernet Internet connection (e.g. cable modem, ADSL, DSL, etc.), the WinGate Server Computer (Internet sharing PC) requires two (2) network adapters. One network adapter will connect to the internal network (typically a hub or switch) and the other network adapter will connect to the Internet connection (cable modem, etc.) for external Internet access (to use an Internet account).
A center connection point for the network (e.g. a hub, switch, or router) is necessary to connect all the networked computers together.
Internet Access Account: Functional Internet account (any Internet connection method: such as cable modem, dial-up modem, satellite, etc.)
Internet Sharing Requirements: Functional TCP/IP network Functional Internet access account for one computer (WinGate server)
